MBA 2010 13" very very poor wifi speeds

Hello,
Got a MBA and it has very poor wifi speeds where my phone gets almost 15 megabits, the MBA gets 0.5.

What can I do about this? Moving it doesn't seem to affect it, turing off bluetooth does, but as i use it in clamshell (with the lid up to get reception...) i cant not use bluetooth.

I would consider an external wifi adapter if possible.

It is known that the wifi works perfectly fine at high speeds when bluetooth is tunred off. Once Bluetooth is turned on, wifi signals drop and diminish in performance. They must be sharing the same chip. I never use bluetooth for anything, doesnt bother me, but i do feel for all of you who does.

you could try manually placing your dns server numbers in osx.

Well i let it rest for an hour or so (since i last posted) and it seems to be faster, plus i did the DNS change and used googles ones and it appears to be faster than before. Not sure how long it will last like this though.

Just bought a 13" MBA and I have had some seriously funky wifi behavior as well. I have several apple/windows devices working flawlessly on my Netgear WNR2000, all testing at full bandwidth. The airbook has been spontaneously dropping, as well as throttling from full bandwidth to almost nothing at random intervals. Sometimes it assigns itself an IP as well, and the router shows it as an attached device with a blank "--" for an IP address. I've tried a thousand things on both ends but I know it's not the router, thing is rock solid. I'm pretty bummed because I love this book otherwise. I followed the DNS suggestion as well and it's currently behaving normally, utilizing full bandwidth. Usually doesn't last for more than 10 minutes so fingers crossed.

i use the dns trick with all my macs wifi...

with your macs you can use your own dns servers or any others you find work best (i just used googles as a example....verizons 4.2.2.1,4.2.2.2 also work good...as do opendns servers 208.67.222.222,208.67.220.220)

ps: also works well when using linux (edit dhclient.conf for permanent change and or resolv.conf for one time change)
