MBA 2010 general information please

Hi

I have a late 2008 MBA with 2GB Ram and 128GB SSD drive, and I have been very pleased with it - no problems at all.

However I am down to about 15GB space and want to install the iOS 4.1 SDK onto it, so I can do some apps developing whilst on my travels. However this will mean me having to start shunting applications and data around, or go for the new MBA.

My choice would be: 2010 MacBook Air 13.3, 2.13GHz, 4GB, 256GB. How hot does this run?

I would then sell my existing MBA which is just two years old and still have 1 years AppleCare on it (probably the optimum time to sell it).

I see that the back-lit keys have gone, which is a shame, but was wondering if there are any other issues, problems that have surfaced, or any tips, must do's.

Get it - you'll love it. No heat issues at all.

I had the exact same system as you and upgraded to the very system you are considering. I'm not a programmer, but I can say that the fan goes on a lot less, and the system as a whole is remarkably quicker given the underwhelming specs. Even virtualization works very well, while it was almost unusable on the Rev B.

Some of us (including me) have had wake-from-sleep issues where the screen lights up but nothing shows up when it is waking from sleep. In my case I had the computer replaced and so far it hasn't recurred. Some of us also have received some kernel panics from Safari, in particular from Safari 5.0.3, that to now haven't be resolved. I'm guessing it's a software issue, though.

On the whole, however, the Rev D is a big improvement over the Rev B with SSD.

i had heard about the kernal error, but as I dont use Safari (only use Firefox) I wasn't too concerned.
