MBA 2010 Issues, Exchange?

So I purchased my MBA in late April...this was after returning (2) 2011 MBP's in the weeks prior due to malfunctions in both....Now my MBA is acting up, Kernal error's, overheating with the fans whining when I'm on the internet on non-flash based sites, slow wake-up (sometimes the cursor is frozen for 5 seconds, sometimes the screen won't turn on for 5-10seconds), beachballs when just opening safari or typing in a url...I don't do anything intensive on it either, just surfing, and watching media on vlc. I can't believe I've had this kind of luck on my 3rd mac in less then 5 months...

I would love to go to the apple store and have someone look at it, hopefully exchange it (I see that as the only reasonable thing to do given my situations in the past), however I am in a remote location for work and won't be home for 3 weeks. By the time I come home the new MBA 2011's should be out. Is an exchange now out of the question because of this forthcomming update? What should I do I need suggestions. First time mac-purchaser.

They will exchange it with the same machine...

They won't give you the new Sandy Bridge one....

It's a warranty issue and apple will honor it. But, getting 2011 one is not going to happen.

This sounds pretty hopeful on your part, they keep some previous stock for refurbs and parts, but they'll probably look on your genius repair file and see that you have previous, and may just assume that you're someone who is never happy.

It also begs the question, if you're having this much trouble with Macs, why aren't you going back to a PC?

This is not sounding too good. I'm not prepared to abandon a new laptop which I spent over 2000$ for with applecare just to switch back to PC that's ridiculous. I just don't see how it's possible that I've encountered 3 lemons now. For what I do on my computer there is no reason for it to be giving me kernal errors and slowing down considerably since late April. As for recieving a refurb...that seems a little outrageous to me that I purchase a brand new computer and recieve a refurbished one in it's place just because a refresh of the line has come out....or am I out to lunch on that opinion?

You think they sell every one they produce? They'll keep stock of several thousands of older models for replacements.

Anyone remember the big find of old Commodores and Amigas when Commodore went bust? They had a huge warehouse stuffed to the roof with old models, yet there were always supply constraints when those models were current.

It sounds to me like theres nothig wring with your laptop abd you just want to exchange it for the newer version...

If you really ARE having these Problems they are def not hardware related, and reinstalling OS X should fix all of them.

What were the problems you had with your two MacBook Pros?

In reference to your Macbook Air:

Have you tried resetting the PRAM or the System Memory Controller?

Have you tried reinstalling OSX?

Have you installed any software that is cracked or illicit?

First issue was the hard-drive making excessive noise
Second issue was it was overheating & thus turning itself off even when used in a well ventilated area.

How would i reset PRAM or System memory controller? I'm new to macs.

I have a 5 month old Macbook Air and yesterday the trackpad stopped working. Reset PRAM, ran hardware test, nothing help. I finally did a fresh install and that didn't help. Did another hardware test and the computer crashed. I went to the Apple store and while I was there, the keyboard stopped working. He took the machine in back, came back and said they would order a new trackpad, keyboard, cables and logic board, replace them all. I asked about just giving me a refurbished MBA or a new one and he said they didn't have any in stock or he would. He did say I should get my computer back in 1 to 3 days.
