Hi!

Have an Iomega USB Powered external hard drive, and normally, with my MBP I had to connect the 2 usb port.cable to have enough power to get it on.

As the MBA as only one usb port, with more voltage than usual, can anyone confirm if these kind of external drive can run attached to MBA?

Regards

Ricardo

Hi!

Is your hard drive the usb powered one (with no power brick?). Mine's the silver aluminum model...
Does it work correctly connected to just one USB port?

Yes, it is USB powered. There seems to be a place external power but I've never used it and it didn't come with a power adapter. It came with a two headed USB cable but I am just using a standard one I had around.

My Mac Mini and my old traveling computer (HP TC1100 tablet) both powered it fine as well (i.e. with a std cable)

The reason for my question is that I only can get my iomega disk powered with my SR MBP when I connect it to both USB ports.

The MBA's USB is a high powered usb to accommodate the fact there is no super drive, normally a external optical drive would need extra power, So Apple boosted the usb power.
