Just wondering how many people have both of these devices and still find they use both.

I have an iPad at the moment and love it but am starting to think I want a MBA. When I get a MBA will I still want or need my iPad at all? It seems like the new MBAs are basically ipads without touch screens and added a keyboard that runs osx.

Still not sure what size I want 11 or 13 i usually opt for larger sizes on screens but everyone mentions the difference in form factor/portability.

Thanks everyone!

I have an iPad 2, a base 2010 13" MBA, and just bought an ultimate 11" MBA. I was intending to give the 13" to my wife, but I now think I'm going to return the 11" ... as much as I lusted after it, the screen is just too small and even the 1.6GHz processor is too slow. I am surprised I did not love the 11" - but the speed lag between it and the base 13" MBA is particularly evident.

All that said: The iPad is a terrific device if I'm not "hard down" and need to write or send lengthy emails. I use it daily for consumption of media and run-of-the-mill email. For web browsing, it cannot be beat.

If I'm out for longer than a few hours, or on an overnight trip, I take the MBA. If I'm out for the day in the city, I take the iPad. To me, the two are vastly different pieces of gear. I honestly think I'm more productive with the iPad in most situations, but for some day-to-day stuff, I still need the keyboard.

I was hoping the 11" ultimate would bridge the gap between the two ... that the 11" would be the constant companion I'd like to have. Unfortunately, that just isn't the case.

YMMV - hope that helps.

I have a 64GB IPad2 and the 13 inch Air with 4GB. I'm a professional photographer and picked the IPad2 up to see if it could replace the Air which I carry with me to shoots. I need a device I can load raw images on, look at and then cull them and the screen has to be larger than the one on my various Canon cameras. I've done some testing and it looks like the IPad will work for this application, and still allow me to browse the net/do email/listen to music, watch movies on planes. I'm going to be field testing it in 3 weeks when I have to go to Hawaii for a shoot. The only thing I can't do on the IPad is edit images, I have CS5 running on the Air and it works fine, but I found I do very minimal editing on it.

It's less to carry, and for me that's a big plus.

Great help i still have the first gen iPad I doubt I'll end up getting the 2 but possibly the 3.

Seems like i might get a 13" ultimate then. I don't need to or want to sell my iPad sure it maskes the cost come down but I love apps and things on it still.

Is it ok to buy refurb on the 13" ultimate 2010 I thought I read somewhere they started using diff hard drives later on is that true?

i have an 11 inch air and an ipad. I carry both almost on a daily basis (sometimes not the air), and get great distinct uses out of each. I use the air for work -- word processing, etc. I use the ipad for e-mail on my work (air not connected), surfing, and entertainment things. I can carry my ipad around with me at meetings, but I don't do that with the air.

I've got an iPad 2, 11" MBA and iMac. I only carry around my MBA if I'm traveling (which I do frequently). Otherwise, my iPad and iMac get the most use. I'm always looking for more ways to utilize my iPad. Significantly prefer the form factor to the traditional laptop form factor.

I have both also. I primarily use the iPad to read articles, documents, and watch videos. I use my 11" for writing, listening to music, and some Keynote work. Totally love both devices. Hope Apple combines both into one.

Interesting. I wondered about this.

I have both. I could live without the iPad and use just the Air without much trouble. But I prefer the iPad for reading.
