MBA and Linux, huh?

First off sorry if you thought this thread was gonna be something else.

Here it is, I have a home built P.C. that I run ubuntu on. It's a really kickass machine and contains everything I need, it runs the first intel quad core processor. My delimma(not really, just a hard choice) is that I can't decide on MBA or and MBP. If I get an MBP I can just keep running my PC as is. But if I get a MBA(which is all I really need) don't I need mac os x to use the features of my computer, like the disc drive and such to run on a MBA. Does the MBA run with Windows? Certainly it doesnt run with Linux?

If you need to use remote disc to use DVDs or CDs, yes, you will need Windows on your PC. Or you could just buy the external Superdrive.

I'm not sure I understand your original question.

There are ways to share files between an Ubuntu machine and OSX. Even further than that, you can run windows or linux on the MBA if you want to.

What the second poster was referring to is that the remote disk application is only on OSX or Windows. If you buy the external super drive (or any external DVD drive...) you won't need to run the remote disk application. The remote disk application is only needed when you need to mount a CD or DVD on the air, but don't have a drive hooked directly up to it. Remote disk allows you to use the DVD drive of another computer as if it was hooked directly to the MBA. (Mainly for file access. You won't be able to play DVD video or CD audio through remote disk.)

There are plenty of options out there. No need to go back to windows.
