I am really OCD with brand new items and when I opened the box I began searching for any imperfection that I could find on my machine... Turns out I found about 3 tini tiny hairline scratches around the apple logo and some more next to the USB port... My machine works fine and my screen is perfect also......am I making too big a deal about this guys? it's just I expect perfection if I drop over 1,300 on a computer... My question is, have any of u received a machine with the tiniest defects that bug u?? I know that I will eventually scratch it, it's just I expected my machine to be perfect when I opened it.. Well, you are still under exchange period. Ask apple to exchange it and they will do it without problems. However, I believe you have to ship out your unit first and then wait for them to receive it. After that, they will send you a new one.

These are computers people, not museum collections. Since you will likely add several similar tiny scratches in the first few weeks of using the machine, why would you want to go through the hassle of an exchange over that?
My air is not a refurb.. It's a new 13 base 4gb...like I said the marks are really really tiny.. I'm gonna prob keep it because I don't feel like going through the process to get another one ... Maybe my OCD just got the best of me.. I was the same way about my iPhone and after I got my first scratch on the steel part, I got over it.. Now my phone has a bunch of tiny marks around the stainless steel..
Yes, I've gone through many replacements of my unibody 15mbp due to imperfections. The alumimum is absolutely horrible in resisting scratch or dents or manufacturing imperfections-it's just way too soft!. I understand how you feel and have been in your place before. If your uncomfortable about it then send it back and get a replacement, I would however recommend that you no longer search for imperfections on them. Everything will have an imperfection, even apple products. IMO, If you come across one through your use, then so be it, but if you look for problems, you will most likely find something that's not perfect. So, after saying that, I would likely exchange it (see if they would let you at an apple store-usually CTO won't allow that), and not look for problems in the new one. What's wrong with people. Does the #$$% work as advertised? If Yes, then use it and enjoy it and enough with the navel gazing, i.e., get a life.
If you had to search for the imperfection, I have to say let it go. It doesn't effect the way the computer works, the replacement will not work any better, and you'll probably will end up scratching it yourself anyway. Actually I'll change my mind, I'm planning on getting a refurb soon.
