Here it goes...

So I got my MBA on Monday and have charged it a few times since, including battery calibration, system management controller reset, etc. I used it down to 20% today, turned it off, and plugged it in. When I turned it on 3 hours later, it was only at 45% and said 5 hours till full. Then, 10 minutes later, the computer has charged up another 5% and now says 1 hour 30 minutes till full. It SEEMS that it charges faster when it is on. Is this possible??? What could be causing such weird charging issues?

Interesting. I had mine turned off to charge from completely empty.

8 hours later and the laptop was still charging. I'm hoping this is not a hardware issue.

Call me crazy but it seems totally true. I wonder how we can resolve this, if at all possible?

All night

I ran my MBA down to less than 5% battery last night, shut it down, plugged it in, and went to bed around 1030PM. At 0530AM the light changed from amber to green.

Tonight I ran it down to about 40% and plugged it in while continuing to use it. The time remaining to charge was about 4 hours when I first started, dropped to 1 1/2 hours after about 30 minutes, and now is steady at just under 2 hours remaining.

The good side of the grass.
Yes, the issue is pretty widespread. It does seem to stabilize after more cycles. Mine charges now in about 3-3 1/2 hours at 17 cycles. I too was concerned through the first 8 cycles and tried everything I've done w. previous laptops. Seems this is a brand new animal and w. Apples secrecy not a lot of real world bugs could be identified and fixed before release. (conjecture)

Still, all in all better than my rev. 1 MB w. RSS.......

I received mine on Friday, plugged it in and immediately started a re-install of the OS. By the time I was done installing the OS and all my applications I had a full battery and a green light on the charger.

I didn't keep track of time but it was sometime between 2 and 3 hours. I left the laptop plugged in the rest of the evening just to be sure it received a solid charge.

It's Sunday AM and I've still got an hour left on my original charge, been using the laptop off and on since and am very happy with regards to battery life so far compared to my old MBP.
