MBA: connects to MacMini fine, but still get error message that won’t go away: “There was a problem connecting to the server “MacMini”.
I recently bought a MacBook Air running El Capitan. I used Migration Assistant to transfer everything from my existing MacBookPro running Snow Leopard. I also have a MacMini running Mountain Lion on my Network.
Here’s what’s happening on the MacBook Air: I can connect to both the MacBookPro and MacMini fine. But when the MacBook Air starts up, I get a message saying: “There was a problem connecting to the server “G4”. (G4 is an old computer that isn’t even on the network anymore.)
When I click “ok” the “G4” error message goes away. But then I get the same message for the “MacMini.” And it won’t go away. I click “ok” and it comes back in a few minutes.
When I turn off Firewall on the MacBook Air, I don’t get the error message, but of course I want to keep the Firewall activated, so this is extremely frustrating.
Prior to OSX Macs were so simple to troubleshoot. I’m really starting to hate them now.
If anyone has a solution, I would greatly appreciate it!
