MBA Creaking Info Thread

Much like the iPhone 4 thread that was started in the iPhone section that was used to determine whether certain phones had the reception issue, yellow scree, issue, etc., I think it would be wise to start one for the MBA since there are a lot of complaints. So, below are the basic questions


Which size do you have?
When did you purchase?
Was it online or in store?
Does it creak?
If it does, what have you done about it?
If you've called Apple, taken it in, etc., what has been the solution?

11 weeks since manufacture

CTO ordered few days after release announced

I can pick it up/ squeeze the area around the track pad /whirl it round my head etc and no creaks Entire base of the unit feels like a solid single piece.

It did, also wobbled and had fan whine, and dead pixel.

Took it to Apple for the wobbling issue, and the dead pixel issue, and on a lesser note the creaking.
Got a perfect new one Go replace it if it creaks.

Three different machines.
11.6" Ultimate - store
13" BTO 1.83ghz, 4GB, 128GB - online
Another 11.6" Ultimate - store

No creaking whatsoever on any of the three. And I tested each because of creaking threads. No wobbling, no dead pixels. Only subtle issue was bottom of 13" screen was dark. Looked like a drop shadow.

Yes and No.

Yes, because we can quickly access who has creaking and who doesn't.

No, because there is no way to identify if there is a pattern. In other words, whether they are all originating from a certain area or time period.

- 13" ultimate
- 3 weeks ago, using it for less than a week so far.
- Bought it online from the Apple Store in Singapore
- Right palm area occasionally creaks, as well as the right side somewhere around the ports, when I lift it up from there. Again, occasionally. But at start used to drive me nuts. I began to get used to ignoring it.. but still that's a bit disappointing.
