Hi all,

I've been updating my website, and my MBA is unbelievably hot during the FTP transfer. Up to 72 degrees and fan on at 6200rpm. too hot to touch underneath.

I have the 1.8/SSD. HOw come it's getting so hot? it can't be that CPU intensive... and clearly reading from the hard drive shouldn't have any heat at all.

thoughts?

I'd run Activity Monitor (or one of the iStat widgets) and make absolutely sure that nothing's pegging the CPU.

Oh - but it is for some reason. Sustained I/O cranks up the fans to way more noise than any Windows ultraportable I've owned, although the externals don't seem to get as crazy hot as MBP's used to.
