Any Authorised Apple Service Centre (you can check the UK site for these in your area) should fit a new drive for the price of it plus a small labour charge based on time. Fairly straightforward procedure, I'd guess they'd charge the minimum 0.5 hour, so you're looking about £30 or so on top of the drive.hi guys,
got a macbook air out if warranty and the hd has failed....i dont fancy replacing it myself....any ideas how much apple will charge to fit a new one (in uk) and install it ie the original 80gig hd
thanks
scott
not overly fussed as it was only really a second machine and had nothing on it....was dreading apple giving me some outrageous repair price like they have with my imac before.....bless em explained it was outta warranty by over 2 months and they still are doing it for free and replacing drive......imagine hp or dell ever doing that.......well chuffed and apple at meadowhall sheffield were real helpful !
AWESOME!!! I hope this will help reduce these whiners that say Apple's service sux. I always have good service from them. My best friend's white Macbook failed 2 weeks outside the warranty and the Apple store fixed it for free as well.
This doesn't happen all the time so it's still important to get Applecare. It's dirt cheap on Ebay.
