MBA rev A, installed new runcore 64b SSD following Scottsdale's great writeup (original cable, black tape, no battery removal), came already updated with 1916 fw. Cloned drive using superduper

Every 15-30 min or so, while using word or excel, the CPU temp starts going up to 65-75, fans come on. After a few minutes starts cooling down but process seems to repeat. Not related to safari/flash. Still running coolbook and smcfancontrol with 3500 min fan speed.

reset pram and smc, no change.

I am unfortunately quite familiar with the heat issues on this computer, but this problem definitely started after installing the SSD. I wonder if I messed up something during the installation. Any ideas?

Sorry to read about your heat problems.

I have never seen any heat advantages nor heat disadvantages to the Runcore SSD in the MBA. I have a hard time believing the Runcore SSD would cause anything to heat up?

Is there a possibility your fan is not running? I am wondering if maybe when you were in there something happened to the fan? That is a long shot, but I guess it's worth asking. Can you look and see how your fan is doing as far as speed and if it's actually spinning?

Did you touch anything else? Is the case fitted back together properly?
