So I have about 1450 cash that I can get any laptop I want. I need it to have the new keyboard but I do not care about touchbar. Which computer between the 2020 MBA i7 or Base 2020 MacBook pro 8th gen? I am sort of leaning MBA so I can get apple care.

Tasks:
Media viewing
Emailing
Lite photo editing ( cropping , rescaling don't need p3)

Thank you for your help

The Apple refurb 2020 MBAs are a good choice, and there’s quite a few available now. Based on your usage description, an i5 would work just fine and you’d save more cash.

The base MBP may have an older chip, but it has more wattage making it more powerful. It also has a better and brighter display. The MBA is the new Mac book while the base pro is just an everyday laptop.

I would strongly recommend the MacBook Pro, its has much faster hardware and a better screen. Especially as you're doing some light photo editing.

Don't agree. I run Affinity Photo on my 2018 Air and it runs fast and effortlessly. Probably even better on a newer Air. Forget the Pro. Only benefit it gives you is the Touch Bar...if that's even considered a benefit.

Base MBP

The Air does not have the thermal dissipation capacity to handle the i7. You'll get an i7 on paper but when it comes to actual performance (especially sustained load), you'll get far better performance with the Pro.
