MBA + iPod + external drive...simultaneously?

I'm thinking about getting the MacBook Air, but my iTunes library is more than 80 GB. Is this possible:
• Keep iTunes library on a USB drive.
• To sync the iPod, simultaneously plug in the USB drive AND the iPod using a USB hub.

Is this possible? Is anyone doing this? Would it work if the USB drive had it's own power supply?

I think this should work fine - i ran a similar set up with my ibook and it worked fine - it essence its only running 2 hard drives through a hub which is perfectly normal

just as a side I hadnt used a MBA until I went to my local store (regent st, london) and it was literally AMAZING!

I am still in shock at how lightweight it is and also so nippy, I was using the SSD version though but overall what a machine - I am now saving for mine even though I have a MBP but I see it as the biggest advent in laptop design since the original powerbooks!

I cannot say how much I think you will be happy with your purchase - go for it!!

If you are close to an Apple store, I would go try it in the store to see if it works.

I have the same setup as you. It works fine.

I bought this cheap 2.0 hub

I'm using an iPod Classic as a portable hard drive to store my 32gb iTunes library and 30gb iPhoto library. I don't use it as an iPod so it has no music on it but it is the smallest HDD I could find. I use it with a Belkin mini USB hub to sync at the same time with my iPhone. Seems odd but it works very well. This way I can plug the iPod into my Mac at home for access to photos and music/videos and stick it in the MBA if I need them on the road.

Oh, I also keep a back of both iPhoto and iTunes librarys at home incase I lose or break the iPod.

when I get my air I'm planning to use a wireless storage medium using an airport extreme express attached to an external hd. I'm testing it with my MacBook for the past week and its been great with transfer speeds comparable to regular wired USB transfers.

Can you possibly give more information on how you feel about this? Does your iTunes library load perfectly fine, any lag?
