Has anyone put their entire iTunes or iPhoto libraries on Time Capsule to work with their MBAs? When I plug in an iPod to synch, would iTunes automatically find the media folders (both music and photo)? I assume the same could be asked for those who use an external HDD connecting to the AirPort Extreme after the software update. Thanks.

MBA, iTunes on Time Capsule and Synching

It'll work, but it'll only sync if you have the drive mounted + if your connected to the same network.

And on top of that, make sure when you launch iTunes, you have the network drive mapped already. If you don't, and you start iTunes, the default folder will be again pointed to your local drive, which then means, if you add more music, it will be placed on your local drive.
I have tried various auto-mappers which would mount the remote drive upon every start, but non I found which was working 100%.
Otherwise, I am synching my iPhone to it just fine. Its like having it on the local drive,

Let's say you had some music stored locally on the computer, and the bulk stored on a time capsule. You have this all loaded into your itunes library, and everything works well while you are at home.
Now lets say you are using your air away from home, and you want to listen to music. You should still be able to listen to the music stored locally. But will everything still show up in itunes (and refuse to play the songs that were stored on the now unreachable time capsule)?
Assuming this was the case, it might be hard to remember what is stored locally (and thus what will actually play) and what is stored remotely (and thus will not play)I guess if you wanted to differentiate, you could have everything in your library as you had before, but have a play list that only contains local music, so this way you can browse through and listen to music that you know you will be able to play, when you are away from home....

Thanks all, for the advice. I thought I had read on iLounge that the "Consolidate iTunes Library" will bring all the music from the local drive to the external one if the external is set as default. When I travel, I usually have my iPod with me so I am not concerned about music in the MBA.
That is a true statement. If you have some music in several places, you set the Actual folder to something, hit Consolidate library, all music will be moved to the currently set place.
