So far I'm not getting good battery life at all with the MBA M1. Just using Safari to surf around, I'm getting about 8 hours. I have 2-4 tabs open at once, and Safari is is constantly "Using significant energy". I had Ghostery and Bitwarden extensions installed, but disabled them.

Is it normal to have Safari constantly using significant energy with only a couple of tabs open? I'm not streaming video via Safari either. I did a search for this, but couldn't find anything that relates to my issue.

Any ideas?

I have like 20 opening on Safari at all time, downloading and watching video and my MBA is still sipping battery.

I have got the same message...when I open any app it is listed in using significant energy...but as I see the ram usage and cpu usage they are really not hungry for the power. What's going on?

I think the wording is poor choice and misleading. It should be 'top usage' rather than 'using significant energy' which implies an issue. If all you're using is Safari then it's normal for it to be top usage.

No, most of the time for me, Safari is not showing up in the battery menu as using significant energy. I can get "No Apps Using Significant Energy" much of the time. I only use one set of plug ins which is 1Blocker.

No mistake in picking up word here. In the battery section the normal apps like safari when even a single tab is open is listed as using "using significant energy". I just bought the mac yesterday and I even don't have too many apps installed. It's of 16gb ,256 gb variant.

Just found this post on whole internet talking about the same issue. No talks anywhere by far regarding this weird message.
Thank you.

I think this is spot. I have seen a lot of people on here get worried or mad because of the message. It makes people think something is wrong when there isn't.

Sounds about normal if you have screen brightness set high. Battery life seems getting a bit better when setting it to 50%, then easily over 10 hours. 15-20 hours is not easy to get if you actually use it. There is not much you can do with 3.3W power consumption because depending on brightness, the screen only can use about that much.

Same here, I use only 1blocker and only get safari showing in "using significant energy" when I am streaming a few tabs of YouTube. Its shows there but doesn't seem to drain the battery more.

I get insane battery life with this Air. I am usually only 6 or 7 clicks of brightness, and the only software program I use that runs rosetta is my Remote Desktop program to my work computer. Which doesn't use that much power it seems. now when I am 8 clicks or more on brightness then battery drops faster.

I never really checked or tested the hours I am getting. I get through an 8 hour work day and about 1-2 hours of streaming videos at night, I still will have like 30% or more left of battery. Now I just charge it on my lunch break and don't pay attention to the battery level anymore.
