Hello, I just noticed that my trackpad "click" is not working. Tried rebooting but nothing. Apple diagnostics gives me NDR006 (I had to plug an usb mouse to use it). Basically the trackpad movement works; I can "soft click" (by taping) but there is no haptic feedback; and I can't basically do any action that requires the "hard click" like moving a window, or using the recovery menu. Is it definitely a hardware problem? what cost can I expect If I make the repair through an apple store? this sucks.

I’d suggest going to Apple and showing them the issue. They’ll likely give you a diagnosis of the trackpad.

Close all open programs. Eject/disconnect external devices. Press the power button and hold it till the MBA shuts down. Restart.

ok; I ended up shutting down normally without anything plugged; closing the lid for a minute; then restarted by opening the lid. My click is back. Apparently doing this is an "smc reset" of sort for apple silicon. still very weird but good to know. maybe there is still an hardware issue somewhere but for now it works.

I did try a shutdown before that without result so closing the lid is apparently crucial.
