I am in the market for a new computer I do a lot with aftereffect and Maya, 3DS etc. I was planning on picking up the MBP 17" but was curious if I could save a little $$$ and Pick up a MBA instead my question is this Can a MBA render for 8 or so hours and get almost the same results as the MBP or Mac Pro from experienced MBA users I am aware it would take a lot longer to render but the weight load would also be a lot less. And if you are able to how detailed are the scenes? I have a feeling I will be going with the MBP but just checking all my options thanks

Any advise would be great

wow, get the 17" MBP for sure. Im not saying that the MBA cannot get the job done, but please, the MBP will make the job easier and less headache.

I have the 17" MBP and got and an Air as a gift for my father. I tried Maya on Air and there were two big problems. The screen is way too small for doing 3d, but more importantly, render times are awful.

Get the 17" MBP with anti glare display. It's kind of heavy but will serve you as both desktop and noebook.
