mba performance adobe products

hi there..

well im thinking of buying a mba, because im travelling a lot and i hate to take a big mbp with me.. and i just wanna know if anybody tested the mba with photoshop or after effects.. (no extrem compositing.. just layouts, photo-compositing.. and a bit videocompositing, cutting..) just because of the harddisk, which isnt really fast.

Hi,I'm using PS CS3 and it works like a charm. Maybe AE will have some more problems since It uses a lot more the hard disk.

that sounds good.. do u use ps cs3 with large pictures?? ae is only for quick things on the road... in the office i have a mac pro.. so just.. to show something the client ...

Using CS3

Hi, I also am using Adobe CS3 (Photoshop, Illustrator, and soon to use in design). I'm only beginning a graphic design course, but so far so good. I personally think it works faster than my 17" PowerBook. I wasn't planning on using the suite with my mba often, but I find myself using it more than the desktop.

I have been using Photoshop and Illustrator over the past week. So for Photoshop, I color comics. It works pretty well, depending on file size. A 60mb cover I was doing had a significant slower save time than my MBP (obviously). Slower load times. Nothing too bad though. I use it with a Wacom tablet. That works well. I have been flatting a ton of pages on it when I am on the go and that works great. I letter comics in Illustrator and it handles those really well. I haven't thrown anything too big at it, but in general it is running well. It really feels snappy with Leopard.

My biggest disappointment is the monitor. While it is really bright and crisp, it is way out of gamut. I don't know if mine is defective or what. At full brightness, I don't get a black that looks black. It looks gray. I tried calibrating and that makes everything blue. I tried some peoples profiles and they were even worse. Not sure if my monitor is jacked or if the monitor itself needs to be turned down to do actual color work.
