I restiored a rev A i recently bought to resell and basically last night on full charge with brightness at like half, all I did was surf the web and facebook and stuff. this thing BARELY lasted 2 hours 45 mins. I have a brand new rev B under my bed I have yet to open cause of making 100% sure I like it which I do but dang NOT if the battery life is THIS bad...how can they advertise 4.5 hours n its like HALF of that....I mean as many of you may recall i was considering keeping a sony Vaio TT over this AIR and i KNOW for a fact the vaio TT battery lasts well over 5 hours FOR SURE...id give up a little screen size but thats about it... HELPPPPP this is UNBELIEVABLE

MBA rev A & rev B battery life?? WoW

1) week of manufacture is encoded in serial number
CCYWW
CC => country code w8, usually for non-refurbs
Y => last digit of year 9 for 2009, 8 for 2008
WW => week of manufacture 01 would be first week of year
2) you can look in system profiler (or run system_profiler in Terminal.app and look for "Battery Information") to see battery condition or install something like iStat widget from iSlayer.com or Coconut battery
2008 week 15 and battery cycle count under hardware profile shows 5 which seems to be new says condition is good
btw my NEW mba rev B i checked based on serial says 2008 week 52 does that make any real difference compared to a new one i would buy in the store TODAY even though this was purchased like a month n half ago?
I don't think there would be any appreciable difference between Rev Bs bought a few months ago vs. now. Depending on inventory turnover, you'd get a newer system. I bought mine about a month ago (now .. yikes, how time flies) at a local Apple Store, and it was made in February of 2009.
your rev B even though its SSD and mine is 120gb, just surfing and **** whats your battery like? is that right for rev A 2008 week 15 5 cycles to last 2.45?
I don't use battery very much to be honest. I think it was claiming about 4ish if I recall correctly. I'd search around in this forum as there was at least one fairly large battery life thread (possibly with a poll).
I don't have any experience with Rev A machines. But a battery with 5 cycles shouldn't have much degradation (though if it is over a year old that can play into it as well). You might compare the full charge capacity with design capacity. If you have blue tooth on and have it set for max performance on battery and have screen at full brightness and keyboard brightness cranked up you will deviate from advertised batter life pretty quickly.
when you say you dont use your battery much do you just leave it plugged in all the time? cause isnt that bad as well for the battery? The time the machine claims jumps around as if this thing is bipolar lol I mean ACTUAL usage
That's pretty low - 5 cycles for a computer that is now over a year old! Sounds like it was never unplugged much at all.
Maybe a battery calibration is in order?

It would be nice if system profiler told you if the battery was calibrated... but it doesn't.
but - follow the steps - and again - it will take a better part of a full day.
But - after it is done - see if the time remaining counter keeps jumping all over the place - and just see how long it lasts....

2:45 that seems pretty good for a MacBook Air... either revision.

As far as the rev B is concerned, it is worth every extra penny over the original and MORE. The rev B MBA will run circles around the original. It is better in every way. You will have no overheating issues like the original MBA. No video stuttering. No core shutdown. No lockups. One excellent Mac.
The only thing I wonder is why the thing is new in box but yet so old? I mean most people would be getting 2009 week 15+ by now.
