Has any one experienced how the MBA Rev A (1.6, 80 GB HD model) handles virtual machines? I need Windows sometimes due to my work (damn you Windows networks) and would love to be able to use my MBA.

I was thinking of using VMWare or VirtualBox from Sun.

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks

With limited use you should be fine. Anything hard drive or CPU intensive will sink you. I hit CPU limit sometimes on my 1.86/SSD.

VMware Fusion or Parallels will work very nicely on the MBA. The only issue you will run into is the 2GB ram limit in the Air. Part of the ram is used for OS X and the GPU then you will have some of it dedicated to your virtual machine so you may experience slower performance using a VM.
If you want the best, uncut performance then use Bootcamp.

I'm using VirtualBox on my Air and VMFusion on my iMac. VirtualBox runs WinXP just fine for quick Windoze tasks on the Air. I even installed the MacAfee virus checker in it. As a previous poster pointed out, performance slows when your Win apps need more memory than what you allocated (due to virtual memory swapping to disk) but this is true even for a native Windows box anyway.
