MBA Super Drive Problems!!

Hello everyone,
I said awhile back that my super drive wasn't working and it turned out there was no CD inside. This time i put in 2 different CDS (on e a movie and one a burned CD with a school project) It went in, whirred on and off, then spit the disc out! I was wondering if anyone else had this problem or if it was just me. I was also wondering how to fix it because I would really like it to work.

So since you've eliminated obvious issue #1, are you sure you're not putting the CDs/DVDs in the drive upside down?

If it's not reading anything, chances are by and large this is something Apple will have to fix for you and not you for yourself.

I'm sure their not upside down. The DVD has print on the front.
Darn. And considering I don't live ANYWHERE near an apple store I'll have to wait awhile.

Yeah, sorry... it sounds like you covered all the bases. Perhaps call Apple and see if they will let you post it to them instead of carrying it into a store?

I had the same symptoms on the superdrive built into my MacBook. The drive was dead and needed replacing.

It's kind of nice that the most reliable thing about Apple Superdrives is that they will always spit out your disc when they are dead instead of trapping them forever.

Could be just the wrong type of CDs/DVDs being used. For whatever reason, I'll use the Maxell Disks and they spin around and get spit out every time (I've got a 100 DVD-R+ case of the pieces of %@#%). I insert the Memorex LightScribe discs and they always work like a charm....

aren't the superdrives still covered under warranty if your notebook still is?

Ack, after realizing it wasn't going to work I bought a new one. It was a sad and happy day. sad, I had to spend $140 to buy a new one when I was saving up 4 spring break. Happy news!!! I can watch movies again!!!
