MBA v 2017MBP v 2018MBP

Hi guys,
Don’t really know too much about computers but need a new laptop and was hoping for a little help!

Fed up with windows as my laptops and computers have died after a few years in the past so going to give a MacBook a go.

Looking to get a laptop for:
- Mainly work (office & internet with multiple tabs running at the same)
- A bit of gaming (online poker & football manager)

In uk the new MacBook Air is £1199
MacBook Pro 2017 non touch bar £1249.... so not much difference there
New 2018 MacBook Pro £1749 (don’t really want to spend this much but if it’s much more ‘worth it’ then I might just go for it).

Hoping to snag a deal on Black Friday, so any help would be great!

Unless you want the lighter and more portable Air the 2017 Pro will give you the biggest deal. The 2018 will be faster, but for your use case I don't think it will be noticeable.

The Air (like the Touch Bar Pros) has Touch ID so you can login with a finger.

I have been leaning towards the 2017 pro and just want to be sure!

My worries with the Air are that it won't be able to handle the Online Poker, if I'm running Pokerstars and tracking software at the same time. Similar with the odd game if I were to play it. With the 2018 v 2017 I was thinking if there'd be much difference in performance for my usage, so thanks for your thoughts on that.

Not really too bothered about the finger print log in stuff - only takes a few seconds to write in a password anyway!

I read on here earlier that the 2017 models are covered for 4 years on the keyboards apparently, so that's put my mind at ease, as that was the main worry there.

The MBA 2018 has Touch ID which after a time requires manual inout anyway. I find this on my 15" pro, I am travelling. lot this year so looked at buying a new air or macbook 2017. Opted for the later, better speakers, better screen wider colour range and also twice as bright. Battery life is almost as good, yes it has the older keyboard but you have apples extended repair programme. The 2018 Mbp speakers are even louder and it is a true power house with quad core CPUs, however if you don't do much a bit of an over kill.
