MBA wifi slow to connect after sleep...

Does anyone else notice the MBA takes a long time to reconnect to your wifi network after awaking from sleep? I'd say it takes 10-15 seconds vs. a MBP which takes less than 5 seconds.

Not a huge deal, but I'd say it's one of the slowest notebooks I've used to reconnect to a wifi network.

BTW...I'm using a 1.8/SSD.

Welcome to the wonderful world of wireless networking in Leopard. It's not the MBA's fault; it's Leopard's. If you had a MacBook or MacBook Pro or iMac or Mac mini with Leopard, it would be just as slow.

I do...I have 3 Macbook Pros (2 15's and 17") including the newest one that just came out last week and it's significantly slower to connect to my network after awaking from sleep.

I put in a new Time Capsule yesterday with dedicated 5Ghz signal, and it's still the same.

Oh well...I hope it's something Apple can improve in future firmware updates or software updates.

It's not as bad for me, but I notice it. On my mbp, within a second, it's connected, but on my mba, I have enough time to hit refresh, before it connects... usually about 3 seconds or so. no big deal.

I do notice a difference but not drastic with my Air compared to MB/MBP. I wonder if it has anything to do with the remote disk doo-dad.

Yes, I notice this as well. It takes at least 5-10 seconds to connect... no other Mac equipment that I have takes this long.

I was wondering if getting an Airport Express / N router would help... since I'm currently using a Linksys WRT54G.

I have the same problem with the Airport client on my MBP. When I open the lid and the screen illuminates, there is a several second delay before the Airport client reestablishes its connection with the router. While the Airport client is searching for the network, the bars in the Airport icon on the menu bar light one at a time from bottom to top before becoming fully illuminated. Only then is the network connection reestablished. In stark contrast, my iPad's network client is always connected to the network and ready to go when I turn on the iPad. Go figure.

I open and close it daily at my home and work on two different networks. By the time I type in my password and login, my network is connected.

I don't have to log in again after opening up my MBP. It's ready to go instantaneously -- except for the network. It takes little enough time for my MBP's Airport client to connect to the network, I'm sure it does so in less time that it would take for me to complete a login.

Yeah, I have a login for security reasons; sleeping one too.

just tested mine...5.5 seconds from the moment I start lifting the lid. Time capsule network. 1.86/120G

I agree that a setup requiring a new login every time the machine is opened is imperative in any environment where it might be available for use by others when you are temporarily away from it. Fortunately, I don't have to worry about that any more so I have dispensed with it.

In the interest of science I closed my MBP when I had to go elsewhere a few minutes ago. When I reopened it, I timed how long it took for the Airport card to find my Time capsule. It took 7 seconds, which isn't bad unless you forget and try to open a Web page before the network becomes available.
