It is an app that basically puts hotmail on your iphone. Does anyone have any opinions about this app? It is $9.99 so i wanted to hear some info before i pick it up. Thanks.

Hotmail now supports POP3, so I have it right along side my GMail account on my phone. Works just fine. I don't know if mBoxMail adds functionality over the built-in mail app or not, but I don't really need anything else.

I did not know that. That will work fine. Thanks, you saved me $10.

so you can add hotmail to the other email clients?? how would I do this??

I have mBox, it works well

I think Hotmail supports POP3 for paid accounts, but I certainly can't find that option for my free one.

Edit: Well I'll be darned. I just went into settings and tried to add my free Hotmail account, and it worked just fine. It knew the names of both the POP server and the SMTP server. Live and learn!

I just added my info in and it set it up. Not as clean as hotmail or mBox mail I am sure, but it works.

mbox mail is fantastic - it downloads every folder you have in your hotmail account and puts it right there in your iphone. Mail app does not...

Worth it when it was a fiver - I'd think twice over pying 10 bucks though... Probably would...

I have a few questions. I just started using the email app that comes with the phone for hotmail but am realizing it is not as great as i thought.

With MBox Mail:

• If you delete an email from your iphone, does it delete the email in hotmail too?
• The regular email app always shows 50 emails. When I delete one it brings an old one back at the bottom and says it is new. Does Mbox do this?
• Can you move things from folder to folder?
• Does it show your contacts?
• Does it look like the hotmail set up?

Quick answers to your questions about mBox

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. It shows your iPhone contacts, but not your hotmail contacts.
5. It's more similar to the iPhone set up

The advantage of mBox is that you can see all your folders and move emails around in them.

The advantage of iPhone hotmail is that you can open links in mass emails sent from companies and websites, and that you can get an alert for a new email when you open your mail app to check another email account.

Thabk you! One other question. Does mbox let you know you have a new email right away? So far the iphone email doesn't tell you until you open it up. At least that has been my experience.

No. Third party apps can't run in the background at the moment. Apple SDK doesn't allow that.

That can be changed. Go to settings and look at Fetch New Data. Change your fetch time. It's harder on your battery, but what's the point in owning a fancy device like this and then turning all the cool things off? I just charge more frequently.

Good point. I will try that.
