Hi guys,

I know Apple states the following on their website regarding external monitors:
Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display at millions of colors and:

  • One display with 5120‑by‑2880 resolution at 60Hz at over a billion colors
  • Up to two displays with 4096‑by‑2304 resolution at 60Hz at millions of colors
  • Up to two displays with 3840‑by‑2160 resolution at 60Hz at over a billion colors
Thunderbolt 3 digital video output

  • Native DisplayPort output over USB‑C
  • VGA, HDMI, DVI, and Thunderbolt 2 output supported using adapters (sold separately)

However, I'm trying to hook up one 5k LG monitor and a QHD Samsung monitor. I can't get the 2 screens to work at the same time. The 5k is connected directly through usb-c, but the samsung one goes through HMDI into a hyperdrive dongle.

Is it possible at all to get both monitors running with perhaps a dedicated hdmi to usb-c adaptor? Or through displayport/usb-c?

I'm asking because it states 2 4k monitors are possible, which totals more pixels than 5k + QHD.

Thanks for any input!

You won’t be able to use 2 external displays if one is the 5k display.
