Hello,

Last week I have ordered my new MacBook Pro 2020 13th inch model in Space Grey colour on Apple.com store.

I noticed small chip which looks like that it came with this unit from factory. This is near trackpad. There is no issues with this device I am OCD person.

Please see photos below.

Do you have such things on your MacBooks from new I mean out of the box?
Do you thing should I exchange it for a new unit? I suspect that new unit will also have such a thing?
Is it a big deal?

Regards,
J.

I have to be honest. I don't think I would have even noticed that in my 2020 MacBook Pro. I would almost need a microscope to see that. I guess I wouldn't worry about it too much but if it really bothers you, go and exchange it.

Well, actually, if it has brought you to go through the trouble of posting it, then it must be bothering you.

I'd exchange it. We pay a pretty penny for these machines. They ought to be perfect! :)

Do you think that store.apple.com will exchange it or I will have to return it and order? I am scary of the new unit will also have the same chip or other issues.

Then you would have to return it again (and again if necessary). I think it is highly unlikely that the second one will have the same problem. Other people for other various reasons have returned their computer multiple times because they weren't satisfied. Based on the photo from day one, I definitely think you have a legitimate reason to want a different one.

I am a perfectionist. I would return it if it is the first thing you see when you at the computer. It wasn't cheap and Apple's quality control should learn that they can't let units with imperfections like that go through.

There is none. But it doesn't matter. If the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th one have such a blemish then return them too. I doubt that even the 2nd one would have such a blemish.

Exchange it once and then see if you still feel the same way. Maybe it would be perfect!

Yes, I just started return procedure to apple.com, doing backup and format of this MacBook Pro and ordered new one but now Silver, not Space Grey. Fingers crossed. New must be new.

Excellent! Did you not like the Space Grey? Or, do you feel you have a better chance of perfection with the Silver?

I feel better chance of perfection with the Silver which is also nice an original MacBook Pro colour. It should arrive on Wednesday.

Yeah because I freeze my money on apple.com. It was good idea to order from them because I can return during 14 days period without any arguments.

That is precisely why I buy from them. I know I have to option to change my mind for whatever reason. It puts my mind at ease when I buy something from them.

The time I would have to return mine (2020 13" 10th gen) is almost up and I can't see any reason to return it. No imperfections found on mine.

It will almost be a relief when the window for returns has expired. Then I have to live with it and won't need to wonder about all of the little things I don't like.
