MacBook Pro 13.3" (Mid 2012 A1278)
Intel i7, Samsung 860 PRO, Corsair Mac Memory 16GB 1600mhz, macOS Catalina

I've had this laptop for around 2 years now and it is still in very mint condition, I barely used it as it is not my main laptop. However starting around a couple months ago the screen was starting to experience some flickering or glitches near the center, happens most often when booting up the laptop and it would disappear after around 5-10 seconds. Sometimes the flicker/glitch shows up when I'm already booted in and not even doing anything on the laptop, but again it goes away quickly, and it occurs way less often than during boot up.

I did a clean reinstall of Catalina and I tried resetting SMC and PRAM/NVRAM, but the problem persists. I know it's been discussed numerous times but I couldn't find a definite answer. Some had suggested it to be a display cable failure, or worse, the logic board itself. I really hope it is not the latter, hope someone who knows the issue can chime in.

Cheers.

If it isn't hot as hell then I don't think this is inevitable, if Mac works without crappy freezes and abnormal heat. Faced similar issue on Windows laptop (some Toshiba Satellite). Sometimes it was shown, sometimes wasn't. Relying on it's random schedule, I suppose. But despite that it's still working

It is hard to replicate the issue since it occurs randomly most of the times. However I did try connecting it to an external display and the screen flickering is only present on my laptop display, no flickering or glitches on my external display. So does that mean that the issue is either with the laptop display or cable, and NOT the motherboard/GPU? Correct me if I am wrong.
