I've recently been having kernel panics about once daily on my MBP.

Apple Diagnostics shows nothing wrong.

Running Disk Utility shows the SSD has some errors but has an exit of 0, which I think is good.

I backed up the SSD and ran Disk Utility from Recovery Mode and when I did it that way it didn't have the same message at the end about skipping repairs, but I don't think it fixed the errors either because the same ones were there when I ran it again.

I'm wondering if anyone is willing to read through the kernel panic text and disk utility errors who understands this better than I do? Does it seem likely that whatever is causing the disk errors is causing the kernel panics? Also, I've been troubleshooting an app called Rewind with its developer because I've been having other issues with that app since updating to Sonoma, and I'm going to stop using it for a while to see if that makes a difference.

The disk it refers to as having problems seems to be the Data Volume, btw.

The stack trace references kernel kexts "hfs" and "usb". My guess is you have an external USB drive attached when the kernel panics?

hey .. im having the same issues with kernel panic's causing reboot I think when my mbp 14" m1 goes to sleep after sitting idle while I have it connected to two external displays (one via hdmi and the other thru the thunder-whatever adapter to hdmi). Im seeing "watchdog panics":
panic(cpu 0 caller 0xfffffe0025f73a94): watchdog timeout: no checkins from watchdogd in 94 seconds (796 total checkins since monitoring last enabled)
kernel panic version 14 ...

So basically you can rest assured it is not the using of that software you mentioned but as the other commenter suggests its probably from the computer falling asleep or going idle with cords connected to the usb/hdmi. I always tend to have my external displays connected via thunderbolt adapter to hdmi and just a straight hdmi to the second external display and also often my lightning cord often not plugged into my phone (as if my computer is sleeping or idling im probably not charging my phone, right?).. it is frustrating and a bit worrisome to have the same panic occur every day or multiple times a day but maybe try not having any cords connected and see if you still get the reboot and kernel panic.. I don't seem to with no cords connected.. FWIW

when I look up hfs it says it was replaced by Apple File System in 2017. since we have Macs from 2020 ish.. any idea why the hfs kexts would even be included in the panic report?

The external USB drive (SD card) was HFS formatted?

First, test with all external devices removed and everything unplugged.

If that's stable then you know it's one of these external things that is causing problems.

Second, if it's still crashing, wipe your drive clean and install the OS from scratch.

If that's stable then you know your old installation was borked.

Third, if it's still crashing you need to repair or exchange the computer.
