MBP 16" - How is Big Sur running for you?

So I've been testing out Big Sur every now and then, to see the stability improving.

Now we're at Beta 5 and not too far away from it being released(September, unless it's delayed).

How's it running on your 16" MBP?

Seems to be pretty polished now with a few visual glitches every now and then. My biggest issue is that installing the next beta of Big Sur requires you to run an "update" prior to installing it which errors out every time. Only solution is upgrading to the next Beta then making a USB and reinstalling it. Not sure if this is related to the T2 chip, but that's my assumption.

It won't be released until this fall (probably October).
For me, it's running better with every beta on my 13" rMBP Late 2013. The first 2 betas were ok, 3 and 4 were a bit worse, and 5 seems to be very fast and stable, much better than Catalina on this particular machine. So much, that I'm actually using it as my main and only OS.
I hated some of the new design features at first, but now I absolutely love everything of it. I'm looking forward to see the final version and to try it out on a newer machine!

I'm have the first Public Beta on my 16". Design wise I love what they're going for, there are just a lot of things that badly need to be polished 😅

Performance wise, I'm a bit concerned about the 16". The 16" already seems like a fickle machine with kernel panics and speaker crackle issues on Catalina. Those issues haven't seen any improvement in PB1, but I'm hoping the T2 firmware update of the next one will help!

I was still having a ton of random crashes on DP4, but just updated to DP5 and the latest Tech Preview of Little Snitch. Fingers crossed that my experience is improved as it crashes multiple times a day in a variety of different processes. 2015 MBA.
 
I don't do anything important on my mbp 16 so installed Big Sur on mine. I have a few issues here and there but nothing that stops me from using it for web browsing and things like that. I've had iMessage delays, can't import new photos from my iPhone to my photos library, and music app won't play music when hitting some of the play buttons but it does work when hitting other ones. All in all I'd say Big Sur is a very welcomed update !

btw, 4k YouTube rocks !
 
I have the boot delay after pressing the power button. Scared to update to PB2 since I've be reading kernel panics during login.
 
Been running pretty good for me, besides some issues caused by Little Snitch Tech Preview version, but the developer has been quick to update.

Parallels 16 worked fine on big sur Public beta 1.. Now that i've installed public beta 2 parallels crashed immediately
 
I had an issue with PB1 on my MBP 16" where the kernelmanagerd process kept running non stop thus activating the fans, but the issue is now resolved in PB2. Other than that, apart from the finicky MS office compatibility everything else appears to be stable and definitely with less issues than any other MacOS beta I've tried in the past.

My only issue is some questionable design choices in regards to some some app icons which look extremely dated (whose idea was to add ridiculous shadows on most icons including FaceTime and Messages which look horrible?).

You don't have the boot delay? I am having that issue and it sucks.
 
What about watt usage of GPU when connected to external display? Did something change?

I've got the boot delay as well as occasional failure to sleep when the lid is closed. iMessage doesn't show the name of the person texting in the upper right notification. Starting songs in Music doesn't work right as well

Boot delay still here on public beta 6. What’s weird is that mostly everyone experiencing the delay are on a MBP16.

Do you guys think it would be fixed
later on or is it gonna be a normal thing from here on. I was also thinking of downgrading the BridgeOS but I heard it will brick my MBP 16 Late 2019

When you say boot delay, just it just take a long time to get to the desktop?

Do you see (assuming you're running Big Sur on the 16inch Pro), any crashes/kernel panics on reboot/shutdown?
