Hello,

I am experiencing the same problem as some other users: my 17" MBP shuts down without any warning when battery capacity reaches about 35%.
I have already done PMU reset, with no results.

The problem is that my MBP is NEW!! I received it today.

MBP s/n is W8623...
Battery s/n is 6N623...

Also, I have 2x512mb RAM... do you think this might cause the malfuncioning? Or it is surely the battery?

thanks for any suggestion-

Since it is your first day with your sweet new computer, why not call Apple or drop by an Apple Store if possible and have the battery replaced? It is definitely eligible for DOA replacement. They'll take a look at it and find out what the problem is, if it really is the battery (which it most likely is), they will replace it free of charge.

I called Apple yesterday; they will send me a new battery, it should be here by monday.
I'll let you know if that will solve the issue.

I would go along with the new battery idea. I'm waiting for my new 17" MBP to come in next Tuesday. Also, is your MBP 17" or 15". Just trying to see if it happens to a certain screen size type.

Problem Solved

Yesterday morning I received a new battery from Apple (I am VERY pleased with such as a fast delivery!).

Fortunately the problem is now SOLVED!!! :)

However I assume there are still issues with MBP batteries (even after the Apple recalled some february-march batteries).
I must also note that the battery Apple sent is two weeks older than the malfunctioning one.

thanks for your support!!
