MBP 1920x1200 screen - vs LED screen

I still cant decide if i want to spend the extra money for the bigger screen... Is the visual quality as good as the LED screens in the 15 inch?
Someone persuade me either way!!!

Personally, I can't really see any visual difference with LED. I think the main benefit is the boost to battery life, and maybe for some folks who do design work.
The higher-res makes a huge difference in productivity. Being able to have multiple windows open and actually make real use of them is great.
Also you need to have falcon eyes if you want that productivity to increase while word processing several documents. On my 20" I usually just zoom in on the docs and that really defeats the purpose of a hi-res monitor...

For sure, some people don't like small/can't see smaller fonts. I wear glasses, but have no problem with them. Your mileage may vary.

If you want a 50/50 chance of getting a non-yellowed LED screen then sure go for it.
I don't know how much weight this carries, but I have the 15" MBP with the LED screen, and I couldn't be more pleased with the display. It is very bright and the colors are extremely crisp. Note that I do have the glossy screen and have not regretted going glossy once. Reflections even in brightly lit classrooms have been a non-issue. If I had it to do over again, I'd still get this same setup.

BTW its not a 50/50 chance. The fear of the yellow screen is blown up by the fact that this is a message board, and it seems EVERYONE with any problem is quick to come on here and let the world know, while the other 99%
of happy customers with flawless products don't take the time to voice their pleasure.
I personally got one of the Samsung displays right in the middle of the uproar over the Samsung display yellowing issue and mine is FLAWLESS. As a matter of fact, these boards scared me almost away from getting the MBP at that time, but when I asked my salesperson at the Apple store about it, she said she had never heard of it, and she went and asked some of the repairs people, and they hadn't even heard of it, and for sure hadn't had any returns because of it at that particular store. She even offered to open it in the store after I bought it to make sure.
The yellowing issue isn't the epidemic that people on here make it out to be.

To the OP: I've got the 17'' and have compared it to my friend's 15''. No doubt I would go for the 17'' if the only thing holding you back is the screen. IMHO it's worth every penny getting the 17'' hi rez...

This is the kinda thing I want to hear - I had another post , but must admit since the led displays came out was cautious about getting one as knew the led's would be on the way to the 17" soon...
However I am not in a mad rush for one, and am wanting to replace my iMac with one.. The next refresh - the 17" high res is mine!!! hahaha!
Having seen the LED 15" MBP displays in store I can't really see any difference in quality or brightness between them and the normal 17" displays. Although that might have more to do with the specific brightness and colour profile settings on each machine.
But there is one thing I can tell you; the High Res 17" model looks a lot sharper (and it should do with all those pixels in such a small place). It just seems nice and crisp.
I've had the High Res model for 6 weeks now and in the first couple of weeks my eyes were definitely getting strained and were slightly hurting. But now I have no such problems; looks my eyes have adjusted (for good or bad!).
If your eyes are good enough (try using one for 20 minutes and you'll know) and you like having lots of windows open at once (or viewing High Def video or pictures) then the High Res model is well worth it.
P.S. You might wanna increase the default text size in Safari though ...

I really love my High Res screen. Though at times it is a little difficult to read things (like when it's late and my eyes are tired). I hope to get a 23" ACD soon though so that should relieve me a bit.
The good thing is being able to have such a high resolution on the road. Having a 1920x1200 external display at home is nice and all, but when you have to take your laptop somewhere with you, it's awesome to retain that resolution anywhere you go

I ordered the 1920x1200 glossy screen with my MBP a couple months ago, and have not regretted it at all - best screen I've ever seen on a laptop. I've gotten to the point where I find it very difficult to go back to a machine with lower resolution. Provided your eyesight is okay, go for it - you won't be sorry.
