I have the 17" 2.33Ghz model with 4GB of RAM and I can only access 3GB. It's not that big a deal to me, I found a good deal on the RAM and I don't use a lot of programs that I can tell a difference between 3 & 4 GB.

I would say if you can get it for a good discount from the current model then I would go for it

Yeah, it only takes 3.
The Santa Rosa's are the ones that can take 4.

If you install 4GB, you will be able to use 3.2GB.

sorry for the typos. It's going for 2199 on the apple refurb store, If my budget was more than I would go with the newer one but oh well. 3gb me I'm going to school for graphic/web design and will be doing video editing every now and again
