I look forward to this, hopefully some reviewer will test them properly.

It would be interesting to know how the speakers compare between 14" and 16", and also in comparsion to the old 2019 16-inch Macbook Pro which also features a six-speaker sound system.

I would expect the thickness of the Macbooks to make a noticeable difference on the sound quality:
14" 0.61 inch (1.55 cm)
16" 0.66 inch (1.68 cm)
2019 16" 0.64 inch (1.62 cm)

The speakers on 16" 2019 sound amazing for a laptop. I'm tempted to switch to a 14" if the speakers can match the old 16" from 2019.

Yeah, coming from 2015 15" MBP I am really interested in how well the new beasts do. If the 14" matches the 2019 16" quality, I gonna be more than happy.

I haven't heard the speakers in a MBP in any newer models newer than my 2016 MBP. I hope they sound awesome in the new ones!

Yeah, I’m really curious to hear performance comparisons between the old 16” / new 14” / new 16”. Speakers are a very important aspect of laptops to me.

Yes, just incredible. And the headphone amp is beefy also.

Should be fun tomorrow with reviews. I wonder which reviewers will get right to it, sound wise?

update: Engadget:

"Apple didn't skimp on the audio front either. Both MacBook Pros sport a six-speaker array, made up of two tweeters and four force-cancelling woofers. Simply put, they sound miraculous. I normally just play a few songs on notebook speakers to confirm how disappointing they are. But these laptops sounded like I was listening to two small bookshelf speakers, with transparent vocals and punchy bass. Yes, I'm as shocked as you are."

Obviously the 16" M1 Pro sounds better than the 14" M1 Pro. And maybe the new 14" is close to the old intel 16", I'm guessing.

It is like with iPad Pro 11 vs 12.9 - bigger has bigger speakers, so sounds better.

Yeah, to be expected. And there's also a noticeable sound difference between the iPad 12.9 with FaceID vs the old TouchID. The old TouchID iPad sounds better than the newer FaceID iPads with the is slimmer design, at least on low and mid frequencies.

I'm wondering why Macs can't use multiple Airplay speakers like iOS and iPadOS? Has anyone tried Airfoil to get around this? It would be great to use the built in speakers along with other speakers.

In the second video, it sounded like the older 16" had slightly more pronounced treble?

Sounds very artificial and chemical ... Like a dwarf pretending to be a giant.
