I'm thinking about buying a 15" MBP, 2.33, 200gig, and 3 gigs of ram and I would like to know how the performance is when you plug it into the 30" cinema screen? is there any lag opening programs or graphics performance loss?

I have a 2.33 with the 256 card in it, and I've used it several times on a 30" ACD. I haven't noticed much of a difference between how it runs compared to my boss's G5 with 4GB of RAM and a NVDIA 6800 Ultra. You should be happy with that combo.

Of course there will be a performance lose if you are using 3D apps. As soon as you plug in any 2nd display the notebook splits the available video RAM between them. As for just using OS X normally sure it runs fine.
