Hello Community

I have an MBP 8,1 (2.4GHz i5, 4GB DDR3 1333MHz, 500Gb SATA Drive, 5400 RPM).

It currently runs Sierra, albeit not too well
Will it be able to handle High Sierra? Will it run well?
Is there a better OS that I'd be better off running? It really just serves as a Mac Workstation

Thanks

Put in an SSD and it will run it reasonably well.

Put in an SSD and 8 GB RAM and it will run it very well.

I’m running 10.13 High Sierra (patched) on a MacBookPro5,5 with SSD and 8 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 RAM and it’s pretty decent.

What Eug said. Pop in and SSD and 8 or 16GB of memory and it will feel like a new machine. By new I mean the ones in the stores. See my sig, same machine, it screams.
