Does anyone have a sense of what the turnaround time is for a MacBook Pro battery replacement? This is for the mail in service (and an M1 Mac under AppleCare if that's pertinent).

I know it's quoted to take roughly 3-5 business days but I'm curious if anyone can share anecdotally what your turnaround timeline was.

I had one replaced through the mail last year and it was back to me within a week.

3-5 business days is pretty typical.

There can always be an unexpected delay on any given service. The vast majority of the time, Apple’s very reliable but there’s no way to guarantee (or predict) whether your repair will take longer.

If you need to get it done, just GET IT DONE and put up with "the wait".

Particularly if the cost is covered by AppleCare.

Put it off, and the AppleCare may expire, and you'll end up paying "out of pocket"...

I think mine took about a week too, it was overnighted to the facility, I think day 2-3 they worked on it and by day 4 it shipped back to the store for pickup. I was pleasantly surprised.
