My MBP battery time has been wrong lately. It will seemingly randomly go to that sleep that won't wake up unless plugged in. even though it says it has anywhere from 15mins to 1hr and a half when it does it.

I calibrate my battery once a month and have slowly notice the accuracy slip.

When I unlplugged it about 2 hours ago it said it had 4 hours I laughed and now it says it has 2 hours more but I know i only get 3 hours if im lucky.

whats going on?

edit: just happened with it saying it had 1.5hours left

I wouldn't think the logic board is the culprit. More likely would be the battery. The battery has a built-in microprocessor which is used in the calculation of the charge/time remaining. Try a different battery or swapping batteries with someone as a test to see if the laptop exhibits the same behavior or if it's resolved.

I generally don't like calling apple or traveling the 3 hours to the nearest apple repair center, I guess I'll call them and see whats up. I'm sure they'll blame it on the dent in the bottom corner of the unit.

The last week or so my MBP's battery has been acting really strangely. Battery health would range anywhere between 53% and 92% (and would change during charge/discharge), the time remaining would also fluctuate and jump up/down.

Often the latptop would switch off at between 10% and 30% left, other times it would jump from between 30% and 40% down to anywhere between 10% and 17% and tell me I'm running on battery power.

Never had any problems with the battery until recently and this one's only 7 months old, originally replaced during the battery recall.

I called AppleCare in the UK and they're sending me out a new one. Good service!
