I am looking to replace my current 2018 Mac Mini with a 14-inch MBP with the M1Max. As many of you are probably aware the Bluetooth performance of the Mini has serious issues which never seemed to get fixed.

Has there been any issues with the current crop of MBP's regarding BlueTooth performance?

Good luck. Coming from a 2018 mini, I find my M1 MBA BT no better. Getting a Magic Mouse to pair with the MBA is an endlessly frustrating process. Going back to wired means a longer cord than either of my wired mice have. Apple just doesn’t seem to care about BT performance.

I have been using a Logitech MX Master 3 mouse and companion MX Keys keyboard with the Mini via the Unifying Receiver. They work great and I will likely continue with them with the MBP if the BT performance still stinks.

I would prefer to use my Magic Mouse and KB however as I really love them but these seem to be the next best thing. I would also like to use my AirPods but the Mini's BT just is not reliable enough.

The Logitech approach makes a lot of sense. As much as I also enjoy my Magic Mouse, I'll take a look at Logitech. Most of my Magic Mouse use is with my iPad Pro. Works great there so I know it’s the MBA, just as it was the mini and seems to be with the MBP.

I believe Apple have fixed it with the M1 Max chip? (as I saw many people complaining about the M1 chip with bluetooth)

Atleast my 16" M1 Max MBP has no bluetooth issues when paired with a wireless keyboard + wireless mouse + wireless headphone all at the same time.

I hope so. My M1 Mini seems to work marginally better than my Intel. I have no issues with the wife's M1 iMac or my Intel MBP.

I just ordered the M1Max MBP-14 so we will see in 6 to 8 weeks!

Isn't this a common issue for Mac users?
I had a mid-2012 MacBook Pro, and my MacBook Pro's Bluetooth stopped working after an update. I don't know what's the reason. And I find out that to fix the Bluetooth I need to replace the logic border that basic replace the entire mac.

Then I decided to try a USB external Bluetooth dongle. I picked up an Hideez Dongle. After plugged the dongle into a USB port, I just feel like my MacBook pro BlueTooth restarted and working again.

Not that I have noticed on my 16” M1 Max MBP, also like use Logitech G502 gaming mouse rather then Magic Mouse. Apple as you know doesn’t allow you many adjustments with mouse control in the OS that GHUB does.

I use MX master 2S and G915 TKL via bluetooth and I only had couple problems during keyboard pairing, but after MBP restart it paired no problem

edit: sometimes I also connect to sound system, so all 3 connections at the same time without issues

Well, I have had my 14in MBP for a couple weeks and it seems to work just fine with my beloved Magic KB and mouse so all is well with the world again!

OK, 6 or 7 months in and things seemed to be working fine with an exception. The audio over bluetooth has serious issues. First with my AirPods, then my AirPods Pro and now with my AirPods Max. Things seem to work fine for a half hour or more then the audio cuts in and out or dies altogether while watching YouTube or ATV videos. Often I can restore it for a time by pausing the video and restarting it.

Occasionally the audio glitches coincide with mouse wonkiness but not always. I have been using the Logitech MX Master 3 mouse and MX Keys keyboard, they replaced my Magic Mouse and KB soon after I bought the MBP-14 in March.

All of the AirPods work perfectly with my iPhone, always have. The audio cutouts are very much the same as I was getting with the Mac Mini in the past.

I am thinking about getting an external Bluetooth dongle and trying that. Any ideas on one known to work well with the Mac?

Mbp m1 13 inch here.

Bluetooth always works like a charm.
On Big Sur the audio had big latency with my Sony headphones/Bluetooth speakers from various companies. It started to work correctly on Monterey and now it works on Ventura as well.

Some updates here. I have tried a couple things to resolve my Bluetooth issue on my M1Max MBP 14:

I tried running the AirPods Max off the computer with nothing else connected to it, unplugged from the dock. No joy, after a few minutes the same BT cutouts occurred.

I turned off BT on my phone, put my iPad and Watch in another room. I turned off the nearby Windows computer as well as the AppleTV to try to get any other BT item from creating an issue. Still same issues with all this.

I am certain i the problem is with the Mac itself, all 3 AirPods (Original, Pro and Max) models exhibit the same behavior and all 3 sets work fine on the iPhone and iPad.

I am now trying the AirPods Max on a new (to me) Intel MacBook Pro 15" 2017 my son gave me. So far so good but it has only been an hour or so. I may try this on my wife's MBP M1Max 16" next.

I am still looking for some sort of external BT dongle that will work with the Mac, I am still open for suggestions on that.

The saga continues.

OK, another update!

I ran the AirPods Max on the older Intel MacBook Pro for over 3 hours and not one glitch at all.

I am wondering if there is a plist file i can delete or some other reset procedure I can do to see if that helps...

I've literally had zero issues with BT on my 16" M1 Pro. Have had the machine 9 months now with zero glitches. My old Intel iMac and 16" i7 MBP had horrible issues with my AirPods for example.

OK, after some time with Apple Support in chat and on the phone the situation seems to be abated by simply "Forgetting" and repairing the AirPods to the Mac. It has been a couple days and so far so good.
