I can't get 1900x1200 to work on an external monitor with dvi in bootcamp (vista). It gives me a maximum of 1024x768. I've tried everything and nothing is working.

have your installed the latest boot camp 1.4 drivers and restarted? the latest drivers helped my MBP go to its native resolution because the 1.3 graphics drivers didnt work.

1.4 drivers

the mbp screen is at native resolution..the external under dvi is not

osx?

have you tried displaying those resolutions in OSX? (ie. native res on your MBP and 1920x1200 on the external)? I was not aware that the MBP could handle THAT much resolution. I knew it could do 1 of the 30" monitors, but i was under the impression you had to disable the laptop screen in order to achieve that...

works fine in OSX. Doing it right now actually..

the macbook can even handle 1900x1200 let alone a MBP.

Its not that Vista can't handle it..its that it won't let me do it.

Has to be a video driver issue then. See if you can update is with the latest Nvidia driver. Although my boot camp 1.4 driver works fine with a 24" external monitor.

is it on DVI or VGA?

VGA works for me, DVI does not. Unfortunately, my 24" monitor has a really bad VGA connector and it a has a bit fuzzy picture in VGA, so I'm stuck with DVI.

I've tried Laptop2go drivers too..and I know those work fine with the right resolutions so i'm hesitant to call it a video card driver..even though it should be

I use DVI as well. VGA looks worse at those high resolutions.

So you tried the laptopvideo2go drivers? If those don't work either, maybe it's a setting in the Nvidia control panel that needs adjusting? Can't you add a custom resolution in there somewhere?

there are no options in the driver control panel and i tried 3rd party programs..which didn't work

it seems hit or miss with the monitor your using. We have 2 19" monitors i tried..both dell 19" monitors. One only did 1024x768. THe other did 1280x1024 (native resolution). OSX was fine. It makes no sense. Legit PCs work fine with these drivers.
