I have just tried to record something using the built in mic in my 2.33Ghz MBP (end of 2006 model) and it sounds really bad.

Its like its recorded in very low bitrate, similar to how "real audio" encoded audio sounds at low bitrate. Warbly/flange effect

It sounds the same in imovie and logic.

On my MB the sound is perfect. Have i just got a dodgy mic or ?

This always happens... just as i give up looking for a cure and post on here i get a eureeka moment..

In the sounds section in Sys Prefs, for input there is a reduce ambient noise option. untselected that and now its fine!
