Got my MBP c2d about a week ago. Its a standard edition, with 1 gb ram and 128 mb vram. Ill do play alot of World of Warcraft, but I have got som problems that really anoys me. It freezes sometimes. Pretty often.

Sometimes it just freezes, and I get that error message, like a grey/black box, with the error message typed in about 5 diffrent languages. Then I have to hold down the power button to restart the computer. If I launch wow again after the reboot it will happen again, after just some seconds/minutes.
My first idea was that the computer runned to hot, thou the problems often comes after some houers of playing. I tried som diffrent things, like play on diffrent surfaces -like an ordniar desk, in my bed, kitchen table etc. No diffrence. Experimented and played with the power cord plugged in, without the battery attached, with the battery attached, only running on the battery-power, -no diffrence. I downloaded fancontrol, did so the fans runs "more often", and on a higher RPM also at lower temp. No diffrence.
The intresting part is that the temp of the comuter is only about 60 degrece celcius after I boot it up after a freeze. So maybe its not the heat that causes the problem? But after i got an error message / freeze, and I wait like 15-20 min before I reboot, I can run the game again for about an hour, before the freezes again. Any one got some idea whats going on? :( Now i have to play like important raids and instances on my PC agan, just so I wont make my party angry becouse I disconnect...

(sorry for my crappy English, im from Sweden and I guess that I should have spent more attention in school ;)

Seems so. But as i said, the temperatur of the computer is just around 55-65°c when i reboot it again, directly after the freeze. So i start to wonder if it is something else...

(and just for the record, today i WoW' ed about 5 houers, and it didnt freeze a single time. "Just" one "ordinary" crash, you know, when you can send a rapport to Apple/Blizzard etc.)

You could have had a corrupt install of Mac OS X or the OpenGL drivers. Try reinstalling OS X (you could even do an archive and install) and then make sure WoW is completely up to date (maybe reinstall it completely, as well).

If the temperature was the problem then the computer would just turn off, it wouldn't have a kernel panic (what you're experiencing). This does not sound like a hardware problem, but rather a software issue.

I think the solution is to stop playing WoW!

I mean, it's a big time investment! Think about it! You could be learning to play metal guitar!

I'd suggest reinstalling WoW before reinstalling OS X. I've had bad game installs on Windows machines before that were resolved by simple re-installation of the game. Every once and a while I had major problems that required Windows re-install, but that was fairly rare.

Okey. Great, then its not the temperature causing it. Ha! :D Ill try to reinstall WoW then, and afterwards OS X if it dosnt solve the problem. Can i reinstall OS X without losin all my files on the hdd? Like just reinstall the os?

Btw, a bit offtopic, but if any wow-geek reads ( ): Can i download the uppdates separatly from a ftp or a server somwhere, so i dont have to go throu Blizzard downloader?
