Okay,
Since i bought the laptop i've noticed the gap that occurs when the laptop lid is closed. I've read about it on the net in places like here and apple support forum. But recentrly after seeing a couple other people's mbps i've started to worry again. Other people do have the gap but it's not nearly as large as mine. It has always annoyed me but after reading about some peoples experiances with applecare and this issue i didn't bother. But now that i see that the issue is alot bigger it has started to annoy me again. I've attached some pics so you can see the gap. Is this gap normal? Or is it large enough to warrant a fix of some sort? I'm live in Canada so apple dosen't handle our problems instead i'd have to send it to the nearest Apple certafied repair center, would they be able to fix it?

In one picture i added a peice of loosleaf for reference. It takes one sheet of looseleaf and one cd to completely plug the gap. The left side of the lid has no/tiny gap.

Thanks.

I have a small gap, arcing up unevenly on the left hand side...approx 1mm gap between lid and case. I dont think its a problem for me, but the gap in yours looks a bit more serious. Even so, is such a gap likely to do any damage beyond looking a little annoying (extra strain on the latch perhaps)?

Good, that's what i thought. Do you know if an apple certaified retailer can do this? The closest apple store to me is a good 15h+ drive. And by what i understand apple dosen't do the repairs themselves outside of the U.S.

In that case. If i were you i would call applecare and send those pictures to a rep. They will either set up a repair at an authorized service center, or arrange a shipment to their contracted service center. Either way, im pretty sure they will take care of it if your persistant.
