So, my Macbook Pro 15" (Core Duo) has some blotches! They're about the size of a dime, and there are roughly four of them. I've treated this thing as delicately as you can, so I know I didn't cause them. They're not really visible when it's any color other than white.... and much more so from the side.

I could tolerate this if two things were different:

1) This isn't an outrageously expensive computer
2) I use white all the time to word process...

Has anyone had this issue? Are Apple goig to claim it was just my fault? What's the best course of action?

I *is* a bit confused

Is it a new refurb or did you own it for quite some time and it just appeared?

I've owned it for about 8 months, and I didn't start to notice them until about.... 5 months ago? It's POSSIBLE that I didn't notice them before then, but they're so obvious to me now that I can't imagine they've been around the whole time...

It's still under warranty. Get it replaced.

It sounds nuts, but I do kind of envy your position.

At least you can storm into an Applecentre, point at 4 big things on your screen, and have a reason to demand a replacement screen. Some of us don't even have that luxury!

Enjoy your high quality industry leading Apple service, I am sure you will find that a pleasure :p

Surely anyone with a MBP is still under warranty and is entitled to similar service?

I have the same problem, but I have three blotches as you call them. They are only visible on a white background as if there is some dirt on the screen. Went to Micro Anvika in London and they are exchanging the screen for me for free. Why Micro Anvika? As it turns out apple support is not as good as I hoped it would be.

So Apple have refused to deal with this issue for some of you? Did you send it? Take it to the Genius bar? Or just never get past the phone support?

You can no longer send products in UK as far as I know. I tried making an appointment at the Regents Street Apple Store in London for 4 weeks, but it is impossible to book online. So I went to the store hoping I could arrange something there. The appointments manager was really rude. I told him that I've been trying to make an appointment for a month but he kept telling me that it is really easy make appointments and he made three that morning. Why would he need to make appointments?!!! Well, maybe he had to.Anyway, at this point 3 people who were already being attended to by the genius guys told him that they couldn't book online either. So this manager turns to them and tells them that he is not talking to them. I tried telling him that there is no way i can come in every morning and hope to get an appintment as I have to work. In the end I just turned around and left. Went to Micro Anvika as I said in the post above.

Just thought I'd dig up this old threat to post a resolution, just in case people search and find it...

I sent my MacBook Pro in to Apple for repair after it started experiencing another problem. I noted the screen issue as one of the problems. Apple replaced the screen without question.

Funny, I have one of these blotches as well. I just brought it down to my local Apple store today and they're replacing it.
