this morning I updated my Late 2011 15" MBP in to 10.11.5. I couldn't get the upgrade to work from the App Store, so I downloaded the "combo" upgrade from a link someone posted here. The computer work for a while, but then when I was using Sketchup, it clicked and I got a blue screen. It was frozen, and I held down the off button to shut it down. I powered it up again, and the start-up as slow, and then went to a blank white page. I powered it off again, and tried starting it in safe mode. Still a white screen. I powered it off again, and now when I tried to start it up, I got the apple and the bar started, but the bar stopped about 3/4 and it's been stuck there for about 10 minutes so far.

Help. Please.

Boot into the Recovery Drive by holding down Command R when restarting.

Run First Aid using Disk Utility in Recovery on your internal drive. If it's OK, then you can select to reinstall OS X from Recovery.

I restarted while holding command R, but it still started up to a blank white screen. Also tried holding the shift key at start up.

Any other ideas?
[doublepost=1464834794][/doublepost]I connected the MBP in target mode to my Mac mini. Ran disk utility on the MBP drive, and got a message that the drive was successfully repaired.

But it still won't start up.

My late 2011 MBP suffered from the video card flaw and Apple fixed it twice for free. Take it to get diagnosed at an Apple Store. The rep jacked into my machine with his iPad mini and knew within 2 minutes what the issue was.

Thank you. I took it to the Genius Bar today, and they said it was a video issue. They're going to fix it (hopefully) for free.

It's a known issue with that build. The return invoice said $300 + -$300 credit =$0 Due.

So it will be free or $300.

Thanks again. Apple replaced the logic board for free.
But my computer does seem to be running much slower after this last update. I guess this is Steve Jobs telling me it's time to buy a new laptop.
