Despite it being my intention to hold off on my purchase of a MBP, I found myself *needing* one, so have today been to the Applestore and bought a nice shiny one.
Along with that, I've bought a 22" Samsung screen to hook up to it.
My intention is to use the external screen, a keyboard and mouse, whilst at my desk, allowing me to effectively use it as a desktop replacement.
As I have the desk space available, I would like to take advantage of the screen on the MBP too - ideally having my email, IM etc open on that screen and my 'proper work' on the external screen. From a productivity point of view, it will save me a bundle of time not having to keep opening my email to see if its something important.
Anyway, I have successfully got this working nicely - with 2 small exceptions. Firstly, I have the dock in the middle of the screen (have never managed to get away with it at the sides) - but obviously it is on the MBP screen. The same with the 'taskbar' at the top. This is probably the biggest issue, because it means having to move the mouse over to the laptop screen to do things like open a new tab etc.
So, is there any way for me to have the external monitor act as the primary one, and the laptop screen as the secondary? Or any other alternatives?
Any help is very much appreciated!
