I don't know if this is normal but when my MBP wakes up from sleep, there's a fizz/sizzling sound (from both speakers) for about 1 second. The sound is exactly the same and lasts the exact same amount of time each time. It doesn't bother me that much (it's not that loud) just wondering if that's normal.

hi
i think this sound is pretty normal, i have it too with my MBP (intel core2duo 2.16ghz).
check though if it is really coming from a speaker. i don't think it is. i think it's the hard drive unlocking from "safe" mode (the mbp mechanically locks its hard drive during sleep and on strong movements, so when it falls down the HD isn't damaged).

hope that helps

MacBook too?

I just noticed that my MacBook makes a similar noise, at least I think it's the same noise going by your description.

It's sort of a fizz/static noise, and lasts for about a second or maybe 2 when I wake up from sleep.

It didn't used to do it before, just started.
