I read in a review that the backlight flickered when set to low levels, is this true? I can't provide a link because I don't remember where I read it but I would like to know if there is any truth in it?

Thanks

Ive noticed that sometimes in dim lighted situations that the display adjusts constantly. If you turn off the automatic dimming of the backlight, it goes away.

Most definitely happens for me. I read the article on Ars and thought "ah ha, it's not just my eyes!". Doesn't bother me much, because I very rarely run at the lowest brightness settings. I was surprised to see on the Ars article that the guy does run at the low brightness settings. Maybe he's always using subdued lighting in his office or something.

Anything "2 dots" and below on brightness shows the slight intermittent brightness flickers. Above that, it's stable.

We'll see if it's a problem on my next 14 hr flight to Shanghai. I usually turn the brightness all the way down to save battery power, but I will probably have to keep the brightness up a bit to avoid this prob.

Edit: Actually, reading the other post above - I turned off the "automatically adjust brightness for changing ambient conditions" check in sysprefs and I seems to have resolved the issue.
