im in sort of a jam, i love the ability of the MBP as far as picture editing and the OS but i really want to play some current games on the MBP? i cant decide between the New MBP SR and a medium range gaming laptop? some help and insight would be nice.:)

The new SR Macbook Pros have great graphics cards in them. It's the 8600M GT, so it should be able to cope with most fairly recent stuff out there. The lower end 15" have 128 MB VRAM while the 2.4 Ghz 15" and the 17" have 256 MB VRAM.

I have the lower end 2.2 GHz 128 MB VRAM model and plan to play Oblivion on it with Bootcamp. I've heard it plays well at medium-high settings, and its a fairly demanding game. So I'm all set, and you should be too!

what games do you play
also, games run natively now in MBP with bootcamp + Windows. Some youtube videos and some forum posts posted some amazing scores in games such as half life 2.
Gaming in MBP should be great.

well my PC just crashed 3 days ago and i loved to play BF2 and far cry i also really am excited about COD4:):):):)

I installed bootcamp / XP SP2 on a 30Gb partition and played Half Life 2, HL2 Lost Coast, Counter Strike Source, Call of Duty 2 and Sam & Max and it all runs very well. The MBP does not even run very hot either; in my opinion it even runs cooler than my old PB G4 (while playing intensive 3d games).

Also, the reason why I waited for this release and did not buy the previous model was because this last revision has the Nvidia 8600M GT GPU while the older MBP's had the AT X1600 GPU which is quite outdated.

If you want to play games; get the last revision...

I have the rev with the X1600 and Its great on all games i have played on it bar on.
Rainbow six:Vages does not run to well the graphic ops are a little sparce. But i got i playble after messing with some settings and completed it :).

Bf2142 runs great as well as HL2, world in conflict, Company of heros and meny meny more so the new version will be fine :)
